Eric founded OneBigPlanet in 2002 using one million dollars of his own money and that of seed investors. Eric then led the company’s growth by receiving over 3 million dollars from Propulsion Ventures (links to investor relations) in 2007.
Eric Aubertin is a proven entrepreneur, having founded Universal Fundraising in 1999. Universal Fundraising went on to become eFundraising.com. For the first 5 years of operations, eFundraising.com enjoyed a 1500% growth rate and was ranked Canada’s 39th Fastest Growing Company by Profit Magazine. eFundraising was later acquired in 2000 for 27 Million Dollars, and was then later acquired by Readers Digest.
Eric is considered by most that know him to be a visionary leader, maintaining an aggressive while humble approach to building business relationships to support his company’s growth.
From conceptualizing technology solutions, formulating business and revenue models, managing product development, implementing marketing strategies, to securing capital investment, leading mergers and acquisitions, and expanding sales national and internationally, Mr. Aubertin has focused his career on building the corporate infrastructure required to maintain rapid growth, remain competitive, ensure high quality products and create value for both customers and shareholders.
Eric’s reputation for being one of the most innovative minds in the loyalty, ecommerce and fundraising industry is mirrored by OneBigPlanet’s corporate culture.
In addition to his professional exploits, Eric was also drafted by the Montreal Canadians of the NHL in 1986 and had the opportunity to play on the Canadian Olympic Ice Hockey Team in 1991.
During his junior hockey years, Eric shared room with famous NHL goaltender Patrick Roy with whom a running bet as to who would be the richest man still stands.
Eric lives with his wife and family in Montreal, Canada – a city that supports its Hockey as passionately as it supports its resident’s innovation and drive.
Christopher Norford joined OneBigPlanet in 2003; after his first meeting with Eric, Christopher immediately jumped upon the chance to help build something amazing; and has helped OneBigPlanet form alliances with an impressive stable of partners that include fortune 500 companies.
He brings to the company over 10 years of consultative sales and planning with global financial technology companies. Most recently signing a multimillion dollar deal with GateHouse Media; the largest newspaper and media company in the country.
Christopher was part of the team instrumental in the pre-funding success of the company. Today he continues that contribution by brokering key revenue and licensing deals for OneBigPlanet.
Christopher began his career in financial consulting, initially joining Linsco Private Ledger and then held various senior manager positions with Charles Schwab and UBS Warburg.
Presently, he works out of the Columbia office in MD, but is more often to be found in airports around the country en route to representing OneBigPlanet to our ever expanding client base.
When Christopher is not glued to his phone, brokering long term strategic partnerships, he can be found kicking back with his wife and family. His motto is to bring passion, focus and fun to everyday life.
