Case Study: Gatehouse Media

GateHouse Media, Inc., headquartered in Fairport, N.Y., is one of the largest publishers of locally based print and online media in the United States as measured by its 87 daily publications. GateHouse Media currently serves local audiences of more than 10 million per week across 21 states through hundreds of community publications and local Web sites.

Their challenge:

Acknowledging the incremental decline in traditional newspaper readership, GateHouse Media embarked on a quest to increase their online presence, as well as build and improve online reader loyalty by aligning its goals with OneBigPlanet.

How we helped them:

OneBigPlanet setup an instance of their DealAdvertiser for Gatehouse’s sales reps to manage local merchants and coupon campaigns. In order to publish their coupons, OneBigPlanet setup a fully white-labeled portal branded to Gatehouse’s new homegrown brand, RadarFrog. In order to support the brand and the RadarFrog portal, OneBigPlanet built custom iFrames and widgets that were placed on each of Gatehouse’s 160 publication websites.

The results:

  • 2,000 Advertisers joined in 1st 60 days / $600,000 in Annualized Revenue in 60 Days
  • Over 40% “Print Through” on Local Coupons

The RadarFrog brand

GateHouse Media created the RadarFrog brand in attempt to move their offline advertising into a new era of local online advertising. Gatehouse turned to OneBigPlanet to help them build a multi-faceted online platform to do just that. After only a few months into their launch and over $600K in annualized revenue, Gatehouse realized just how big this could be.

US Communities

Government and nonprofit sector employees now have a new reward for their hard work. Employees of these public sector agencies are eligible to receive added benefits through a new program created specifically for them: the Employee MarketPlace.
